The May 21, 2011 Doomsday

It’s already May 21, 2011, and...let me look at my clock.. wola! 11:37 pm. I am lying on my bed and writing this blog.  I hope I would still be alive until a little later so that I would be able to finish this blog. At this moment, I am in the midst of waiting if a strong earthquake would shake the earth (obviously, that’s where the name derived), break the ground, and eat me alive (ooops...not my laptop because I haven’t paid for that yet). What on earth am I saying? And Why? Simple, because it’s doomsday! Tadah! Yeah right.

A certain religious group in America prophesied that the world will end today, May 21, 2011. A radio announcer who is responsible for disseminating that information said that it is based on mathematical computation in the Bible blah blah whatever it is. Sorry if I may lack in information about this alleged fact, my eyes were so idle to scan the Wikipedia page. My officemates told me last Friday that they saw banners in expressway indicating that .......Well, thank God I did not see the banners.

I remember when I was just a small boy, a cousin of my mother visited us, it was January 1992. I forgot the name of their religion, I can just remember the name “San Pascual” something...anyways. The motive of her visit was to scare us, just to say that the world would end on October 22, 1992, oki doki.
Because I was just a small child who could easily believe in whim, I was scared and my mom too. I made a countdown to October 22, it seemed that everyday was a torture day for me. Normally, every child wishes material things to cheer them up like toys, gadgets, bicycles, shoes, chocolates etc. Some children wish to go to carnivals, theme parks, malls, museums, ocean park, and other places where they can enjoy their childhood. In my case, I just had one wish before October 22, “Can I just die?”. Funny that it seems but that’s true, I wanted to die. On October 21, I prepared myself to die. I was always beside my mother so that when the doomsday occur, I would die with her and we would die together. I also called all the saints that I knew, all I did was pray, pray, pray. Here came October 22 and...wola! nothing. I waited for nothing. But that time, I was extremely happy because I waited for nothing for almost ten months. From then on, I did not believe to any prophesy that gives specific dates about the End.
Well, I guess those people who are fond of giving specific dates think that they are greater than Jesus Christ. Why? Because Jesus Christ himself doesn’t know when would he be back to the earth. According to the Bible......Only God the Father knows the exact day, time, minute, and second of His Son’s coming.
So, for those people who are excited to end the world, sorry for you because while I am typing this line, it’s already 12:02 am, May 22, 2011. Wooohooo! I finished this blog!
